Le Havre AC are still waiting for their first Ligue 1 win of the season. The Norman club was held to a 0-0 draw by Angers on Saturday 12 September at the Stade Océane, a match where opposing goalkeeper Anthony Lopes proved decisive.
HAC manager Didier Digard acknowledged the frustration after the game. "We created situations, we had shots, but we couldn't find the opening," he said. His team, sitting 16th in the table with just two points, is desperately searching for that first victory.
The match started brightly for the hosts. As early as the 2nd minute, Ally Samatta attempted a cross from the right. Three minutes later, the same forward tested Lopes with a long-range effort. The clearest chance came late in the first half. From a Soto Nakamura ball, Samatta found the net, but the referee ruled it offside, correctly disallowing the goal.
Angers had their moments, notably through Jim Allevinah in the 7th minute and from well-delivered set-pieces by Branco van den Boomen. But the Havre defence held firm. The point lifts Angers to 9th place with four points.
For Le Havre, this result extends a difficult run. The club lost its opening two games against Monaco (0-1) and Brest (1-2) before this draw. With only two goals scored in four matches, offensive efficiency is clearly the main issue. The upcoming fixtures will be key to climb out of the relegation zone.
The next challenge is a tough away trip to Troyes on 20 November. ESTAC, currently 10th, will present another significant hurdle. In the meantime, Digard's squad must rebuild confidence. The squad composition and individual statistics on our stats page show there is potential, but it needs to be converted. The international break comes at the right time to make adjustments.
